About Goshu
The history of Goshu began in 1946. The company was founded as a pharmaceutical company. The turning point came in 1967 when we developed and manufactured a medicated bath additive with papain enzyme for excellent health and beauty effects for the first time ever in Japan.
After that, mineral water was produced in 1981, and production of food with beneficial claims and cosmetics using deep sea water was produced in the early 2000s. We have pioneered new fields of products and have been growing strongly.
Following its founding in 1947, this company established its basic philosophy as “The sun, water and nature are the source of life.”
Under the theme “Beauty and Health”, the company tackled the goals of developing unique products and supporting good health. Beginning with the use of the papain vegetable enzyme as a bathwater additive, the company developed a wide variety of products, including non-medicinal items, cosmetics, functional foods, beverages and drinking water.
Recently, we have developed a new business that takes advantage of unique high-quality regional resources -natural water from the Northern Alps and deep sea water. In order to meet the needs of our customers, which change daily, it is important that we intensify our technological development strengths, and strive to proactively develop original products that connect with the future.
Going forward, in order to deal with a rapidly changing society and natural environment, we must increase our efforts to contribute widely to society as a manufacturing business supporting healthy life styles for people, making the best use of experience and achievements we have garnered over the years.

Goshu’s company roots as a research and development enterprise is in the study of papain enzymes started in 1965.
Bath additives containing of the excellent proteolytic power and stability of papain enzymes are our long-selling products. In 2007 we opened our own research farms and have been working on with a consistent system for a variety of food with beneficial claims from material research.
In order to explore the possibility and usefulness of deep sea water containing more than 80 kinds of minerals, the research started in 1996.
We succeeded in practicing multistage seawater separation technology for the first time in Japan. We propose new skincare and bathing styles through our own developed products that make use of its health and beauty effects.

Since our founding, we have been manufacturing with the aim of contributing to society through “crafting” that benefits people’s “beauty and health” and that we can all share the joy and pride by doing so.
With the papain enzyme developed in-house in 1967, we have continued to embody our philosophy through many business partners. We take responsibility and pride in ensuring our customers find our products are indispensable to end a day and challenge to manufacture in a manner that each and every employee can find it rewarding.
At Goshu, we manufacture each product carefully under strict quality control at our clean factory in Toyama, Japan. We have obtained ISO 22716 certification(Manufacture of basic skin care products,bath and shower preparations) and FSSC 22000(BIB filling line) which is the world's highest food safety management standard.
Starting from our main factory in Chisato, surrounded by beautiful nature with clear sky and green views, Goshu sources local ingredients from a nearby water source with high quality natural water.
From raw ingredients to finished product, Goshu can support clients for OEM/ODM throughout the entire production process.
The source of everything we do is water.
The many blessings of nature around our factory, with the Northern Japan Alps providing water from snowmelt at high altitudes and the Toyama Bay providing pure and mineral-rich water from its depths, allow us to create products that are kind to nature and kind to the skin.
Our Initiatives
We now live in an era in which many people broaden their horizons when choosing a product to include not only “does it suit my skin” and “does it irritate me?”, but also “does it coexist with the natural environment?”.
As a manufacturer, we are the starting point and required to manufacture by making the most of the limited resources. Goshu also launched "Toyama Quality Water" as a new initiative and will respond to the demands of customers, community and society while maintaining our ethos, and work on the problems of the natural and social environment.
The Way Goshu Crafts
From raw materials, to way in which these materials are processed, refined and made into a finished product, all the members involved in each process control quality in details within our own plants.
As such our greatest strength is one-stop manufacturing systems, we can realise products with originality in terms of design and functionality while adapting to circumstances and responding precisely to customer needs.
Unlike a big company, with well-coordinated teamwork, we value the attitude of on-site staff to take on new challenges without adhering to conventional methods. We consider this the fun of manufacturing, the value, and what we are proud of. This spirit has been passed down to the factory.
