Toyama, abundant geological blessings in one place.

GOSHU's headquarters and factories are located in Toyama Prefecture on Japan's main island of Honshu.

Toyama is one of the few places in the world that possesses two natural riches in the space of 10 kilometers: the 3,000-meter mountain range and the 1,000-meter-deep Toyama Bay.

These natural gifts allow us to create a wide variety of health and beauty products.

Water quality depends on geology. Granite in the area absorbs and filtrates impurities contained in the water. Geological strata from the Neocene Era and limestone also impart a wide variety of minerals to the water and improve flavour.

With natural reservoirs in mountainous areas and the deep waters of Toyama Bay (one of the deepest bays in Japan), Toyama boasts some of the most delicious, highest-quality water in the world.

ALTITUDE 3000

Spring water originating from snow melt from the Northern Japanese Alps

With 3,000 m above sea level, the Northern Japanese Alps is said to be the roof of Japan, at a depth of 1,000 m, Toyama Bay is one of the three deepest bays in Japan.

Mountain permafrost constantly seeps into the ground, creating underground currents that take about 30 years to flow.

Flowing downward, the snowmelt is purified by silicic acid and other minerals from the Toyama soil. The water finally flows into the Toyama Plain and is then pumped directly to our plant.

DEPTH 1000

Blessing of sea, deep sea waters of Toyama Bay

The water in the depths of Toyama Bay has unique properties:

Low temperature: cold currents from Siberia descend to the bottom of the bay, more than 1000 m deep, and remain uncontaminated by the sun.

Rich in nutrients: any life forms settle to the bottom and decompose into minerals and amino acids.

Purity: Deep-sea water is cold (∼2°c) and, under the high pressure of the water above, is kept away from vital activities. Recent studies show that water from the depths has an effect on skin cells, activating their regenerative abilities. The main active ingredients on the skin are Magnesium and other trace minerals.

Silica, the mineral of beauty

Silica is found in skin, hair, nails, blood vessels and cell walls and is believed to help bind collagen and also acts to keep skin strong by combining elastin and hyaluronic acid.

When silica is abundant in the body, it helps keep hair and nails hydrated, shiny, and beautiful and is an important component in maintaining the elasticity of blood vessels, preventing atherosclerosis and the diseases it causes.

Goshu uses two different types of silica in its products. The water collected from the Japanese Northern Alps by Goshu is naturally rich in silica, dissolved in salicylic acid soil and collected more than 200m deep. In addition, the silica used by Goshu is also plant-based, extracted from rice husk and rich in micronutrients.

Squalane, nature's best moisturizer

Squalane, a natural moisturizing ingredient, is originally present in 5-10% of human skin and retains skin moisture.

The amount of epidermal sebum decreases with age, which not only leads to dryness but also to an imbalance in the sebum film, making the skin more susceptible to UV rays, dust and other irritants and promoting aging with wrinkles and spots.

The squalane used by Goshu is derived from squalene found in sugarcane. Unlike squalane derived from sharks and olives, sugarcane squalane is sustainable and economical, uses renewable energy, reduces energy and waste emissions, and is environmentally friendly.
